The FCCC speakers committee and the producers of “Let the Bullets Fly” invite FCCC members to view their film, on Saturday, Jan 8. The film is free of charge and members may bring guests, but are asked to RSVP by Friday afternoon.
“Let the Bullets Fly” (让子弹飞) is the latest film by Chinese actor and director Jiang Wen姜文, who won several awards with “In the Heat of the Sun” in 1994 and “Devils on the Doorstep” in 2000. Set in the warlord era of 1920s China, the film follows a band of outlaws who get tangled up in swapped identities as they battle for control of a county town.
“On the surface, the plot seems complex. However, it really is in essence a story about coming of age. During production, I would sometimes subconsciously incorporate my own views and sensibilities into the character of Zhang Muzhi, or “Pocky” Zhang. For me, Zhang and Let Bullets Fly represent an interesting personal realization of the stage in my own life,” Jiang has written.
